Another thing ticked off the bucket list!

Hello again!

I'm designating this post just to one day & thing, our private helicopter ride!
We decided to do this as a bit of a wedding gift to each other, I have wanted to go in a helicopter for so long, plus landing on top of a mountain was just too good to pass up.
As the title states, it is absolutely crossing something off my bucket list, througout our whole trip a few things will be crossed off.

So at the very early time of 4am, which wasn't so bad, our body clocks were still set to 'straya time we set off with me driving. The roads were dead luckily, probably best for the safety of everyone else as I almost went into the wrong lane a few times, ha! It took a few wrong turns but we made it eventually out to Pitt Meadows airfield.

Our pilot Bryce was amazing, (I cannot recommend Sky Helicopters enough if you ever get the opportunity) he tried his best to not make me nervous as hell. It's a weird feeling taking off for for the first time in a chopper, from the moment we took off I went to town with photos...I may have brought 3 cameras, it was necessary! We had such an amazing sunrise with a low fog over some of the low lying areas, creating a cool effect.

Landing on top of a mountain was pretty dang nerve wracking, he would have to test the spot to make sure it was flat enough to rest the chopper on. The view from the top once we got out and were able to walk around was, well it left me speechless, I have never seen any mountains like that before, it was so quiet, I really didn't want to leave!

We flew back after about 40 mins, I sat in the front coming back, holy shit, I think taking off in the front is much much worse, you can see everything and all that was running through my head was 'Will I die if I fall from this height?' haha. It was fine after take off though!

As someone who will remain nameless COUGH CARA COUGH didn't trust my driving skills we returned the car right after the flight, even though I wanted to go to some other places...wuss. Afterwards we spent the most of the day really not doing a whole lot, a wander around Vancouver some more, I can't express enough how pretty this city is. Followed by naps and more food!

I took so many photos on this, I really had trouble deciding which to share, many were culled!

Thanks for reading again, enjoy the rest of the photos and more posts coming very soon (I hope!!).

Canada Trip Begins! Transit, Vancouver & Poutine.

Hi all,

I am so sorry for the slow upload of content!

Well, we are here! I've decided to structure this a little different and post every few days, mostly because I want more time to relax and enjoy the trip, my access to decent internet might be scarce in some areas as well.

I'll try to keep the content at a minimum and just mostly photos so I don't (hopefully) lose your attention! (My story telling is not the best either)

After a terrible 4 hours sleep we arrived at Adelaide Airport bright and early at 4 am, there really isn't a whole lot to report, we sat on the plane for just over 8 hours flying to Hong Kong. We had just under 2 hours in Hong Kong before our connecting flight to Vancouver, this beast was a 12 hour flight. UGGHHHH. It's no secret I normally love flying, aircraft, planes, flying in the clouds, how the earth looks from up high...this was not one of those times. We ended up spending almost 14 hours on the flight after they realised a pilot oxygen tank had to be replaced (after we boarded of course),which they managed to break a part of the plane while changing this so it ended up being 90 minutes just being cosy on tarmac before we even took off. Quite possibly my longest and draining flight I've ever done, all I can say was arriving in Vancouver was SO DAMN GOOD!!!

Flying into Vancouver was breath taking, all of the mountains and coast line just made me even more excited to get off the plane. After getting through customs we caught our ride into the city, this was my first time in any sort of proper American car, they do not mess around when it comes to space inside!

It was so weird leaving Wednesday morning, spending almost a full 24 hours in transit and it was a few hours into the afternoon that same day. Sleep became priority haha, so we snoozed for a few hours, got up and ventured to find some food then came and crashed out for a full 12 hours. We had a fantastic apartment with a great city view.

Our first day was filled with exploring, Cara shopping at Sephora and tasty tasty food. I've decided to take on a personal challenge to expand my tastes in the variety of burgers and Canadian Beer while I'm here, you know....for science...I swear.

The time came for us to pick up our hire car...I was shitting myself, it was the first time driving on the opposite side of the road in the opposite side of the car....although I think Cara was stressing alot more than me...muahaha! It was fine, somewhat, I was packing  it for the first while but it got easier, I still think it seems to make more sense on our side, even if I had not been driving on our side my whole life. We clearly weren't thinking because we went to get in our regular sides of the car...'oh there appears to be a steering wheel on my side' Cara said. oops!

Luckily it was only driving our beasty Yaris back to the hotel that day. That evening we walked down to the Vancouver waterfront, its definitely up there for one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to, as you'll see in the photos below! Sadly in some areas though, there are alot of homeless people around the city.
We had dinner on the harbour front and tried Poutine for the first time, for those who don't know what it is, its pretty much chips and gravy, but the gravy is sort of a more jelly consistency. They add cheese curd as well and we decided to add pulled pork to ours too. Its different,  I'll give them that..... sort of one of the things you have to do when you go away to a different country.

I'll leave this post at that for now, there are more coming soon I promise!
