Day 9 & 10 - Transit to Vietnam and exploring Hanoi.

Hello from Vietnam! Currently posting this on a cruise in Ha Long Bay with the amazing view below, but that story is for another post.

We were up early and keen to get to the airport to try and secure exit row seats, on checkout from the hotel we realised we could have got free complimentary buffet breakfast every day....I'll say that's my bad. Instead we had coffee mugs of cornflakes in the hotel room. Classy.
The rain still hadnt let up from the night before and was torrential on our way to the airport, the minibus taking us to the station  was cruising through maybe just over a foot of water for most of the way.
Turned  out we were at the airport way, way to early, had to wait at check in for 2 hours before we could get through to customs, after fartarsing around for a while, checking in, customs etc etc we were on our way to Vietnam. Well not before having gate changed twice and having to deal with a jam packed room full of impatient, pushy people.

The flight was only 90 mins, (woooo!) Customs is easy so long as your visa is all sorted, scored a sim card for our phones and we found a taxi. The first thing I noticed from Hong Kong is the traffic! Scooters everywhere and the way people drive, just holy wow! People drive with their horns, not their indicators. It made for a few butt clenching moments getting to the hotel. We have decided to only book the first 3 nights of our Vietnam trip and just go with it as we feel.

We were staying right in The Old Quarter, which for me photowise was fantastic! We checked in & headed out to find some dinner and have a walk about before calling it an early night.
