We finally got a slight sleep in after the torment of early starts, we all went our own ways to do different things. Cara and I went up in a gondola, to the massive Peak 2 Peak Gondola. This one went from Whistler Mountain Peak across the valley all the way to Blackcomb Peak. The higher climbed, the colder it got (pretty sure it was -1 or so at the top) and more clouds that started to surround the cabin...As we got closer to the peak the rain began to turn to SNOWWWWW!! Finally! I have wanted to see proper snow and be snowed on since I can remember, really crossed another thing off of my bucket list. I really must get back one day during winter and see it all completely covered in snow.
We got to the top and I was so excited, I couldn't wait to get off the gondola and get out into the falling snow! Unfortunately, like the idiot I am, in my excitement and and rush I left my phone in the gondola. Luckily the lass working at the top was a champ and called down, getting someone to bring it up, I really wasn't too fussed about the phone, more the photos from the trip so far I'd taken on it.
It was so nice up there, we ended up spending the most of the day up there, wondering around, walking a few of the trails, crossing the peaks, lunch and just watching the snow fall!
We came down from the peak pretty late in the afternoon, we found a store and stocked up on supplies as Josh, our tour leader, had told us we would need to for the next day, we had a long 10 hour drive to our next destination.
For dinner, Josh took us to his favourite burger place in Whistler 'Splitz Burger', it reminded me so much of burger places back home. I decided to try the Bison burger, my first time trying it! Pretty good! After, we found a footlocker on the way back and finally bought Cara some new trainers, no more excuses now buddy!

Back to the early starts the next day as we had a 10 hour drive ahead of us, heading towards Blue River. There really is not much to say about the drive, we stopped a fair few times, at some lakes, servo's and viewpoints. We did go through a Canadian desert called the 'Okanagan Desert' It was so bizarre, we literally went from all green trees, snow capped mountains and lush colours, to desert, red hills and looking so dry. We stopped for lunch along a stream (they called it Juniper Beach, there really was not anything beach-ish about it') in the desert, after a little more driving we were instantly back in green and tall pine trees.
We stopped at Kamloops for some food supplies and beverages as we would be staying in log cabins tonight and cooking for ourselves. After a last couple of hours in the bus we arrived in Blue River, our cabins caught me off guard as I had never stayed in anything like them before, it was really amazing! The were set by a lake, we shared two cabins, each with their own upstairs area with bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and fireplace downstairs and walls really were made all of logs!
We all prepared and helped make dinner, which is sort of when the evening of drinking and fun began, we ended playing cards, having drinks and bonding until it was way too late in the evening! It's strange how you can get a bunch of people from all over the world that just click so easily and get along, I guess just lucky...
